Waltz for Cat
For Waltz for Cat, I wanted to write a waltz in a style similar to that of Chopin. Once the piece was done, my friend and I snuck into the Musik-Akademie in Basel to record this. Through some miracle, I played through everything more-or-less correctly first try, which we were very hyped about.
Take a Break, Come Back
In a lot of music, the point is building up to some kind of climax. In this piece, I do the opposite — the core idea of the piece is deconstructed more and more until barely anything remains. The strings offer some melodic support, and I think the interplay between the strings and the piano adds a lot to the piece. I wrote this piece in almost one sitting on New Year's Eve.
Waltz for Cat, Bedtime Version
The original Waltz for Cat is for piano, but its soft and melancholic nature makes it a great fit for the celeste, which is what I arranged it for in this “Bedtime Version”.
